Very often a word y has more than one meaning.

 If you are not sure which one is correct, here’s what you can do:

Check through all the meanings and find the one that makes most sense in the context where you found the word.

Welke woorden staan NIET in het woordenboek?

Afleidingen van woorden, vervoegingen van werkwoorden,  bijvoeglijke naamwoorden en verkleinvormen worden lang niet altijd in de Woordenlijst of woordenboeken genoemd.
