Om zinnen ontkennend te maken gebruiken wij het woordje: not

Dit geeft aan dat iets NIET zo is.

Bij to be blijft het hele werkwoord staan en voegen wij NOT toe.

You are not at home. She is not alone.

Bij alle overige werkwoorden voegen wij Do not of does not toe.

I/you/we/they do not (don't) feel so good.

He/She/It does not want to dance.
