This part of the brain is called the pre-frontal cortex.
Among other things, it deals with impulse-control
And until you're 25, it is NOT fully developed.

Slide 29 - Tekstslide

Why is that important?
Raise your hand!

(Keep in mind that this part of the brain deals with impulse control)

Slide 30 - Tekstslide

Effects of drugs.
When you take (most) drugs. Your brain releases dopamine, your brain likes this and tells you to do drugs again. Making you addicted.

Teenagers (you guys!!!) taking drugs get addicted around 25% of the time on just dopamine.
Adults only get addicted around 4% of the time.

Slide 31 - Tekstslide

Very important!
Weed itself does not have any addictive substances. You get addicted to the rush of dopamine.

Slide 32 - Tekstslide

What happens to the body if you take weed regularly before 25?
Overconsumption of weed causes:
Problems with brain development which causes issues with memory, learning, coordination, and poor judgment.

This happens quickly because weed is a lot stronger nowadays!

Additionally, if you smoke weed you also damage your lungs in the same was as tobacco leading to worse physical fitness as well as increasing your risk of getting cancer.

Slide 33 - Tekstslide

Slide 34 - Tekstslide

Maybe it's worth waiting until you're an adult?

Please be aware of the (real) risks of drugs.
