Greek Myths

• A non-true story centred on gods, magical creatures or heroes.

• The Greeks drew life lessons from the myths and so knew by what norms and values to live

Olympic Gods

The 12 Olympian gods are: Zeus, ruler of heaven and earth Hera, sister and also wife of Zeus, Athena, Greek goddess of wisdom, science and fine arts, Poseidon, god of the sea, Demeter, goddess of fertility, Apollo, god of light, Artemis, goddess of hunting, Hermes, god of trade and travellers, Aphrodite, goddess of love and beauty, Ares, god of war, Hephaestus god of fire and the forge, and Hestia the goddess of domesticity.

Who or what are the magical creatures?

• Pegasus

• Emerged from the love affair of Poseidon and Medusa

• Came into the world when the hero Perseus killed Medusa.

Pegasus

Bellerophon probeerde op Pegasus naar de Olympus te vliegen, maar de goden doorzagen de hoogmoedige daad van Bellerophon en stuurden een steekvlieg, die Pegasus onder de staart beet. Pegasus steigerde en Bellerophon viel eraf en stierf een gruwelijke dood.

Pegasus kwam wel op de Olympus aan en werd 'drager' van de bliksemschichten van Zeus.

13.00 – 13.30: Award ceremony (medals for round 1 and for round 2 )
