Active -> Passive

ACTIVE:    His sister stole John's car.

(onderwerp staat vooraan)

PASSIVE: John's car was stolen by his sister.

(lijdend voorwerp vooraan)

1. Present Simple

am / are / is + voltooid deelwoord

active:    The girl closes the window.

passive: The window is closed by the girl.

Het raam wordt geopend door het meisje. 

2. Past Simple

was / were + voltooid deelwoord

Active:    The teacher corrected the mistakes.

Passive: The mistakes were corrected by the teacher.

De fouten werden gecorrigeerd door de leraar.

3. Present Perfect

have / has + been + voltooid deelwoord

Active:    They have cleaned the clinic.

Passive: The clinic has been cleaned by them.

4. Past Perfect

had + been + voltooid deelwoord

Active:    The brave men had defended the city.

Passive: The city had been defended by the brave men.

5. Met hulpwerkwoorden

hulpwerkwoorden: can, could, will, would, may, must, should

hulp. ww + be + voltooid deelwood

Active:    Our English teacher may give an exam today.

Passive: An exam may be given by our English teacher today.
