UNIT 2: MOVING LESSON 1

FIRST LESSON IN 2025

Dear students, please pay attention to the following:

* Before the Holidays you already worked on the lesson goals of unit 2, paragraph 1. Today I want you to reach as many goals as possible of paragraph 1.

--> You will do this by 1. studying, 2. by completing exercises in the digital environment of Nectar and 3. by making notes.

--> Start by copying the learning goals of the next slide in your notebook

6 main functions of the skeleton

*Stability/support

*Protection of vital organs

*Shape

*Movement (with muscular system)

* Storage of fat in long bones (in yellow bone marrow)

*Production of blood cells in flat bones (in red bone marrow)

4 basic parts of the skeleton:

- skull: protects the brain

- spine: carry body weight + protect spinal cord

- rib cage: protect lungs + heart

- limbs: arms & legs (+ muscles) for motion

Let's have a look inside the bone.

Tissue type

- cartillage:

tough, semi-transparant, elastic and flexible

- bone:

hard & (less)flexible

Where do you find more cartilage than bone in the human body?

--> Look in your textbook where you can find information or discuss with the student sitting next to you how he/she thinks you can achieve this/these lesson goal(s).
