Use of the verb: to have

            We use verb to have to indicate possession .

                                                             ( to possess)

Examples 

- I have 3 cats .

- She has a new book. 

-They have many friends. 

Form of the verb: to have negatives

Examples 

- I don't have a car. 

- She doesn't have any pet. 

- They don't have any time.

Some / Any 

1/ General statements 

Plural nouns when quantity in not specified 

--> Used when talking to things in general.

 *example: -cats are independent animals. 

                        ( not referring to specific cats) 

                        - books can be expensive. 

Some / Any 

2/ Unspecified / indefinite quantity 

Don't mention a specific number but you mean more then one 

* example: - I need apples for the recipe. 

                        - I like flowers . 

Some / Any 

            - Some and and are used with plural nouns when the quantity is not specified .

• If the sentence is positive , we use some. 

       *example: There are some students absent today. 

Some / Any 

• if the sentence is negative , we use any. 

             

        *example: There aren't any students absent today.
