How to calculate by scale?

"With the scale you can calculate the "real distance"."

• Example: Scale is 1 : 100 000.
• 1 cm on the map is 100.000 cm in real.
• The scale is always in kilometres.

The scale is something different than the scale number!!

Calculate KM -> "Hand off"

You can calculate the distance on a map, using the scale number.

What is the "real" distance?

• Scale 1 : 1 500 000        Distance 6cm
• Scale 1 : 40 000              Distance 10cm
• Scale 1 : 250 000           Distance 5cm
• Scale 1 : 2 100 000        Distance 4cm
• Scale 1 : 125 000            Distance 8cm
