Present Simple vs. Continuous

You use the present simple to talk about facts, habits and routines

(time expressions: always, usually,every day/morning/summer, on Saturdays etc.)

They always ..... about his iPod . (talk)

Mary ....... stamps everyday. (collect)

She usually ..... Tom with the homework. (help)

My mother ..... shopping every Friday. (go)

Present Simple vs. Continuous

You use the Present Continuous:

-To talk about activities at the moment of speaking

-To talk about temporary actions

(time expressions: at the moment, now, right now, today, this month, this summer, etc.)

------Remember!------

These verbs (feelings) do not have the Present Continuous form:

believe, hate, know, like, love, mean, need, prefer, understand, want. 

(we / not / go to the cinema tonight)

(he / work in a restaurant now)

Lea and I ..... (swim) in the pool at the moment.

You ..... (not spend) a lot of money nowadays.
