Past Simple

Je gebruikt de Past Simple als iets gebeurd is in de verleden tijd en ook beëindigd is.

I visited my brother last night.

I saw my mum last week.

 Regelmatige werkwoorden

Achter het werkwoord plaats je 'ed'

I walk -> I walked

it rains-> it rained

Medeklinker verdubbeld bij één klinker:

I drop something - I dropped something

-Y verandert in -ie:

you study- you studied

-Y verandert niet wanneer er een klinker voor staat:

I play - I played

Past Simple - Onregelmatige werkwoorden

Sommige werkwoorden zijn onregelmatig (OWW) en dat betekent dat ze geen '-ed' krijgen maar hun eigen vorm hebben.

to write  -> wrote    I wrote her a letter last week.

to go       -> went      He went to Italy last year.

to make -> made     They made a very nice meal two days ago.

In de zin staat vaak een tijdsbepaling van verleden tijd.
