Let's get right into it!

Comparative (vergrotende trap)

 - To compare one person/thing to another (+ than).

Examples:

That tree is taller than the other.

Amsterdam is bigger than Leiden.

Superlative (overtreffende trap)

- To compare more than two things.

Examples:

That tree is the tallest of them all. 

Amsterdam is the biggest city of The Netherlands

Van inductief (in de aandachtsrichter, regels ''zoeken'') naar deductief (regels neerzetten, hierna toepassen)

The spelling rules

- Adjectives with just one syllable = -er or -est

(That tree is bigger / the biggest....)

- Two syllables (not ending in -y) and 3 or more syllables = more/most + infinitive 

(She is more beautiful than her / she is the most beautiful girl on earth)

- Adjective ending in -y = change -y to -i and add -er or -est

(He is funnier than her / He is the funniest of the class)
