Adjectives
-  Bijvoegelijke naamwoorden
- Zeggen iets over een zelfstandig naamwoord: 

the careful driver
the angry teacher
a beautiful dress

Adverbs
- Bijwoorden : Zeggen iets over werkwoorden, bijvoegelijke naamwoorden, en andere  bijwoorden 

  • she drove carefully
  • it rained heavily,
  • incredibly quickly
  • surprisingly easy

Adverbs 

Adverbs maak je MEESTAL door -ly achter het bijvoeglijk naamwoord te zetten (quick --> quickly; careful-- > carefully)

Terrific --> ically --> The report has been terrifically written.
horrible--> bly --> The report has been horribly written.
easy --> ily --> He has easily won.

Uitzonderingen

- Een aantal adverbs maak je niet met -ly: 
   good > well          the good dog, you did well
   fast > fast             the fast car, he ran fast                 ('hardly' =
   hard > hard          the hard test, he tried hard          nauwelijks)

Altijd adjective (=bijv. nw)
Je gebruikt ook adjectives bij werkwoorden zoals:

   be / feel / look / taste / sound / smell / seem (zintuigen)

she is hungry, -- she is extremely hungry
you look tired -- you look terribly tired
the food smells nice-- the food smells awfully nice
