The plural of a word what is that?

The plural means meervoud.

Give the plural of this word

 geef het meervoud van dit woord.

For a lot of words, the rule is very simple:

you add an S behind the word to make it plural.

snake - snakes

apple - apples

etc.

Plurals ending in an S
(clocks, teapots, plants)

Sadly, this rule doesn't count for all words.

Word ending in -y

city - cities 

candy - candies

lady - ladies

the -y changes to - ies

behind the - o, -es is added.

The "o" rule also has a lot of exceptions (uitzonderingen)

piano - Pianos

photo - photos

solo-solos

words ending in -f

knife - knives

leaf - leaves

wolf - wolves

the -f changes into -ves

Als je achter deze woorden een s plakt, hoor je het verschil niet. daarom zetten we in plaats van - s, -es.

A few and a little both mean 

"Een beetje"

so when do you use few and when do you use little?

A few: used for things that you can count (is telbaar)

hairclips, footballs, knives

A little: is used for things that are uncountable (niet telbaar)

rice, sand, time

I have a few cookies left in the cookie pot.

a few ducks came closer because we had bread

There is a little time left to do the task

there is little space in the fishtank to move around

much and many both mean "veel"

so when do we use much and when do we use many?

Many: 

- things you can count

- plurals (meervoud wooden)

much:

- things you cannot count

There is so much food on my plate. 

I don't have much money left.
