What comes to mind if you think about 2 point perspective?

What is perspective?

Perspective is a trick to create depth on the flat surface. For example with a painting or drawing.

Lineperspective

The horizon plays a major role in line perspective. 

These are  types of line perspective:

• With 1 vanishing point
• With 2 vanishing points
• With 3 vanishing points
• even 4 and 5 exists

1 Vanishing point

*    vertical lines remain vertical

*    horizontal lines remain horizontal

*    only the lines going into the depth *    (receding lines) end up in the  vanishing point on the horizon

2 Vanishing points

Often in an image there are several parallel lines in different directions. Then there are more vanishing points. In the figure below there are two vanishing points.

Height remains vertical.

3 Vanishing points

Sometimes an artist also uses a vanishing point for the parallel lines that go up. This can have a strong effect on the suggestion of apartment buildings for example. The artist then decides where the vanishing point would be, high in the sky or in 4 point also in depth.

Horizon and vanishing point can occur at different heights.

True, that depends on the point of view of the artist.

Human Eye View

The artist is at eye level, the horizon and the vanishing point are in the center of the artwork.

Birds eye view

The artist has a high point of view and looks down on an object.

The horizon and the vanishing point are high in the artwork.

Frog eye view

The artist has a low point of view and looks up to an object.

The horizon and the vanishing point are low in the artwork.

Atmospheric perspective

The colors fade towards the background. In some works they also become bluer or greener in color.

Color perspective

The use of warm colors in the foreground and cold colors in the background gives you more depth in your work.

Assessment criteria

• You have used a perspective with 2 vanishing points.
• You have applied details in your drawing, such as plants, tiles, trellises ...
• The whole is neatly finished.
• Original angle
• Light / dark contrast present, creating a 3-D effect.
• Use of textures.

Work guide Assignment 3

1)  First, make a collage with 10 images of perspective with 2 vanishing n          points. Post the pictures on your website->year 3-> 2 point perspective.

2)  Start your design process now. Make multiple design sketches in your black book. 

3)  Have your collage and design process calculated. 

4)  Now make your final drawing on an A3 and color it.

5)  Finish your drawing neatly.

6)  Make pictures of your process along the way.

7)  Write a reflection about your work and steps taken.

REFLECTION 2 POINT PERSPECTIVE

1)  The first thing you do is start to describe your assignment. Do it rather thoroughly and in detail so the teacher can see that you understood the assignment.

2)  Then describe your work process, what have you done to complete your assignment, write this also in detail like collecting pictures, making sketches , changes you have made and so on.

3)  Finally write an analysis about your work, did you end up the way you wanted? If you could do it again what would you do differently? Which part of your work worked out best and which part didn’t? (make detailed pictures to explain) Are you satisfied with your work?

4)  What tools and materials did you use and was it the right choice or not?

5)  Has there been used any theory you have learned during the lessons in your work? Describe how it occurs in your work.

6)  More detailed pictures of your work will make it look much clearer and nicer. You may even want to interview another student about your work so it helps to give yourself more insight about your own work.
