Slide 11 - Tekstslide

Thanksgiving started with a feast in 1621 when English Pilgrims and Native Americans came together to celebrate a successful harvest in Plymouth, Massachusetts. The Pilgrims, who had settled in the New World seeking religious freedom (pocahontas), faced a challenging first winter. The Native Americans, particularly the Wampanoag tribe, helped them learn essential farming and survival skills.
In the fall of 1621, after a good harvest, the Pilgrims organized a three-day feast to give thanks for their blessings and to express gratitude to the Native Americans who had assisted them. This event is often considered the origin of the Thanksgiving holiday.
Over time, Thanksgiving became an annual tradition in the United States, celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. It evolved into a day for people to come together with family and friends, share a special meal, and express gratitude for the positive aspects of their lives.
