Apartment building with 10 floors
Slide 8 - Tekstslide
How do tsunami's form?
1: Earthquake in the ocean floor > low waves with high speed
2: Near the coast, waves are slowed down
3: Water in the back is pushed up
4: Top of the waves gets higher and higher
5: Gigantic destructive tidal wave
Slide 9 - Tekstslide
Shoaling effect
= the front of the wave is slowed down by the friction of the ocean floor that goes slowly up to the coast while the back of the wave still travels at full speed
Happens when the wave reaches the shallow coastal zone (ondiepe kustzone)
