Past Continuous 

The past continuous is ook onderdeel van de verleden tijd. 

We gebruiken de past continuous wanneer iets in het verleden een bepaalde tijd duurde of dat je iets tegelijkertijd aan het doen was. 

- I was walking home when you called. 

Past continuous 

Handig ezelsbruggetje: je was iets aan het doen (past continuous) en dit werd toen onderbroken door iets anders (past simple) 

Korte actie: past simple 

Lange actie: past continuous

Was/were + verb + ING 

She was dancing when she heard the explosion.
