Past simple

  • meest eenvoudige vorm van de verleden tijd
  • something happened in the past and is now done. Refers to an exact moment. 

How: past tense of the verb (regular verbs= +ed; irregular verbs have there own form, e.g. see --> saw)
Present Perfect

  • voltooid tegenwoordige tijd
  • Something happened in the past, but it still connected to the present (is still going on, is an experience/  something happened in the past but it is not important exactly when, result is now noticeable)

How: has/have + past participle
