Today's focus

Today, you'll focus on a bit of reading and on one of the grammar topics from Unit 3: indirect (or: reported) speech.

You are going to do an exercise to help you with some from vocabulary from the text, and you'll read a text about space travel after that.

The grammar will be explained by using examples from the text, after which you'll have to try some exercises about indirect speech.

Basically, the tense in a direct statement takes

when it is turned into indirect speech.

Sometimes, you also need to change a PERSONAL PRONOUN:

John: "I will do it" > John said (that) HE would do it.

Or, you may need to change an EXPRESSION OF TIME:

Paulina said, "I’m feeling bad today."

Paulina said (that) she was feeling bad that day.
