We want to focus on two grammatical aspects that often go wrong when writing a piece: 

-the use of the genitive

-word order

What is the genitive? And how is it used?

The genitive: 's/'/ of

1. Bij personen, namen, tijd en plaats: 's of alleen '

• Bij personen in het enkelvoud: 's --> the boy's bike, the girl's bag, the director's chair, the principal's office
• Bij personen in het meervoud: ' --> the boys' bikes
• Bij namen: 's --> Tijs's bag, Renske's pencilcase
• Bij tijd: enkelvoud 's, meervoud '--> an hour's walk from here, a three hours' drive
• Bij plaats: 's, je noemt de naam van het gebouw niet --> My friend's (house), the baker's (shop)
