What were the Troubles?
The Troubles was a period of conflict in Northern Ireland that lasted from the late 1960s until the Good Friday Agreement in 1998.

Why did the Troubles happen?
The Troubles happened because of disagreements between Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland. They had different ideas about how the country should be run.

During the Troubles, there was a lot of violence. Bombs were set off in public places and people were killed. It was a very scary time for people living in Northern Ireland.

The Good Friday Agreement was signed in 1998 and it helped to bring an end to the Troubles. It meant that people from both sides could work together to run Northern Ireland.
