Grammar: Countable & Uncountable nouns

Sommige zelfstandige naamwoorden (nouns) kun je wel, en andere kun je niet tellen.

- 1 apple, 2 apples, 3 apples, etc.

- 1 phone, 2 phones, etc.

Maar niet:

- 1 water, 2 water

Woorden die je niet kan tellen (uncountable nouns) krijgen dus nooit het lidwoord (article) a / an! en hebben ook geen meervoud

e.g.:  You need an apple

         You need water

Net zoals in het Nederlands :)

let op! in het Engels kun je brood (bread) niet tellen

Heb je er veel van? dan gebruik je much of many. welke hangt af van de telbaarheid.

Countable:

Many apples

Many Euros

Many films

Uncountable:

Much water

Much money

Much fun

Maar in beide gevallen kun je vaak "a lot of" gebruiken
