Past Simple

Iets is in het verleden gebeurt en geëindigd.

Let op signaalwoorden zoals: yesterday, last year, two months ago, in 2012

Vorm: Hele ww +ed of Onregelmatig ww 2e rijtje.

• I moved to America 2 years ago.
• We saw him last week.

Wat weet je nog van de Present Continuous? (bijv. vorm, gebruikt, etc.)

Past Continuous

• Je was iets aan het doen in het verleden. 
• Je gebruikt was / were hele ww + -ing

I was reading a book.

I was watching tv.

They were playing football.

Past Continuous

Vraagzinnen maak je zo:

Were you doing anything yesterday?

Was she writing a note last night?

Ontkenningen maak je zo:

They weren't playing football.

He wasn't paying attention.

Past Continuous & Past Simple

Vaak gebruik je de past simple en past continuous in één zin.

Past simple geeft aan wat er gebeurde terwijl iets anders aan de hand was (Past Continuous)

Oftewel:

Past simple = korte gebeurtenissen

Past Continuous = Lange gebeurtenissen.

Past Continuous & Past Simple

Vaak gebruik je de past simple en past continuous in één zin.

Past simple geeft aan wat er gebeurde terwijl iets anders aan de hand was (Past Continuous)

Oftewel:

Past simple = korte gebeurtenissen

Past Continuous = Lange gebeurtenissen.

• I was taking a shower while the doorbell rang.
• We were eating when grandma called
