Present simple: wanneer?
  1. Als iets altijd, nooit of regelmatig gebeurt.
    We always have sushi on Saturdays. 
  2. Als het een feit is (tijd speelt geen rol).
    Mrs de Weerd teaches English.
  3. Als er sprake is van vaste tijden: aankomst/ vertrek/opening/ sluiting/ aanvang.
    School starts at 8.15.
  4. Bij ww die een zintuigelijke waarneming aangeven: see, hear, taste, sound, smell
    I hear a crying baby. 
  5. Bij ww die een geestelijke staat (know, understand, believe, realise, doubt etc) of een voorkeur aangeven (like, love, prefer, hate etc). 
    My mom believes in ghosts.

Bevestigend: hele ww behalve bij he/she/it (dan ww + s)

Vragend: hoofdww met hulpww do/does (does bij he/she/it en dan ww zonder s)

Does Tim work in the garden everyday?
Ontkennend: hoofdww met hulpww don't/ doesn't (doesn't bij he/she/it en dan zonder s)
I don't work in the garden every day.
Tim doesn't work in the garden every day.

Hulp ww (can/ should/ would/ will etc)  of to be (am/are/ is):
bevestigend: hele ww (he/ she/ it krijgen geen extra s)
He should go to school.
We can see him clearly.
vragend: het hulpww vooraan in de zin
Should he go to school?
Can we see him clearly?
ontkennend: not of n't aan het ww vast
He shouldn't go to school.
We cannot (can't) see him clearly.

Present Continuous: wanneer?
  1. Iets is nu bezig of aan de gang (en van korte duur).
    Mandy is doing her homework now.
  2. Als je irritatie aan wil geven (vaak icm always of constantly).
    James is constantly interrupting the teacher in class!
  3. Als de voorbereidingen al zijn getroffen voor iets wat je in de toekomst gaat doen. 
    Tomorrow we are seeing the football match with friends.

I am working in the garden right now.
Tim is working in the garden right now.
Vragend: am/ are of is vooraan in de zin daarna rest van de zin
Are you working in the garden right now?

we are not (aren't) working in the garden garden right now. 
Tim is not (isn't) working in the garden right now.
