How to write a review

Slide 1 - Slide

Step #1 make a plan

- Look at what they are asking from you.
- Then take a look at the structure of the review.
1. Title
2. Introduction
3. Summary of the plot (without spoilers, duh!)
4. What they ask from you
5. Your recommendation
TIP:
make a word web!

Slide 2 - Slide

Step #2 write!
1. Title
Come up with a fun and catchy title!
You have to make people want to read your review.
Make them curious!

Slide 3 - Slide

2. Introduction
You can start with a question to grab the attention of the reader.
e.g. Do you like fantasy and wizards? Than this book is for you

A fact about the book, for example when its a well known book.
e.g. There are not many people who have not heard of Harry Potter

Or give some background information.
e.g. The book was written by J.K. Rowling and takes place in the wizarding world

Slide 4 - Slide

3. Summary of the plot
Write about the big lines of the story.
Do not give any spoilers. Otherwise the reader does not have to read the book anymore!
Do not use too much of your time/words on the summary. And write it in the present tense!
Short and strong is the way to go!

Slide 5 - Slide

4. what they ask from you
Look at the assignment and write down what they want from you.
Are they asking about the characters? about a plot twist? or do they simply want your opinion about the book?
Are they asking one or multiple things from you?

Slide 6 - Slide

5. your recommendation

We want to hear your opinion! Tell us about why or why not you think other people would want to read the book.
Yes or no is not an answer!
No opinion is wrong!

Slide 7 - Slide

DO NOT FORGET PARAGRAPHS!!

All these steps are different paragraphs!
After every paragraph, a blank line!

Slide 8 - Slide

Last but not least: check it!
- Check if you answered every question
- If it is easy to read
- Spelling and grammar
- punctuation
- Have some fun with it!
