India was a colony of Great Britain from 1858 until 1947.
On August 15, 1947, India became an independant country.
India consists of 28 states and 8 so-called union territories.
Each state and/or union territory has its own population, history, culture, dress, festivals, language, etc.
They've got 22 languages in India, of which both Hindi and English are the official ones.
