After a regular verb you put '-ed'.          

An irregular verb has its own form. Learn them by heart!

Past Simple

PAST SIMPLE

Past Simple:
I ... (walk) to school yesterday.

Past Simple:
He ... (like) my picture on Instagram.

Past Simple:
She ... (swim) for an hour today.

Past Simple:
The thieves ... (want) to steal my wallet.

Negative past = ontkenning in de verleden tijd

                  not          (iets niet doen)

The negative is formed with did not + hele werkwoord.    Ook bij irregular!

I arrived yesterday.(= positive)              I brought a present. (= positive)

I didn't arrive yesterday .                           I didn't bring a present.

She/he/it didn't arrive yesterday.         He didn't bring a present.

You didn't arrive yesterday .                   You .......... a present. (to bring)

We didn't arrive yesterday.                     We .......... a surprise.  (to do)

They didn't arrive yesterday .                 They   ..........    at the party. (to be)

Past Simple ontkenning:
the baby cried all night

Past Simple ontkenning:
I walked to school yesterday

Past Simple ontkenning:
It happened in the morning

Past Continuous & past simple

was / were   + ww + ing

He was cleaning the house.

She was walking to school, when her phone rang.

They were bringing the presents while we were there.
