Spelling rules

- usually add - ing to the verb

- verbs ending in -e, drop this -e and add - ing
have / having - use / using
- sometimes the last consonant is doubled

lie / lying - die / dying - be/being - dye-dyeing

think = opinion: What do you think?
think = action: What are you thinking?

be = am/is/are = someone's usual state: Carl is a boring man
be = being = someone's actions: Carl is being funny! He is joking!

do= job: What do you do?
doing = action: What are you doing?
