The blood of insects
Does not contain:
- oxygen
- carbon dioxide
Does contain:

The blood of fish
Closed circulatory system
= blood flows through blood vessels while passing the heart

Vascular bundles
Xylem vessels
= vessels that transport water and minerals from the roots
upwards
Phloem vessels
= vessels that transport water with dissolved nutrients throughout the entire plant
Slide 18 - Slide
How does water flow upwards?
1.
Suction force
= as a result of evaporation of water from the leaves, water is sucked up through the xylem vessels.
2.
Root pressure
= so much water comes into the xylem vessels in the roots that it is pressed upwards
3.
Capillary action
= water flowing upwards within the narrow xylem vessels
