CITO examen lezen

-> Duurt 2,5 uur 

-> Bestaat uit ca. 40 tot 42 vragen/ 11 tot 12 teksten

-> Open vragen -> beantwoord in het NL tenzij anders aangegeven

-> Neem woordenboeken mee: E/E + E/N

-> Vul bij juist/onjuist of wel/niet vragen, de antwoorden precies zo in (geen afkortingen of kruisjes!)

-> Antwoorden staan altijd IN de tekst (dus niet zoals je zelf denkt dat het zou moeten zijn)

-> Vrijwel alle vragen en antwoorden van het CITO leesexamen zijn in het Engels

Doseer je tijd (ca. 3,5 min. per vraag)

Kom uitgerust en geconcentreerd naar het examen (= voldoende slaap, gegeten, geen energiedrankjes, eten/drinken tijdens toets)

Beweringsvraag (For each of the following statements, indicate whether it is in line with the content of paragraphs 1 and 2) -> kijk goed wat er staat/streep weg wat niet genoemd wordt of onduidelijk is

Structuurvraag (What is the function of paragraph 4? To elaborate; to contrast etc.) -> kijk naar signaalwoorden (but, however, also, even though) en de betekenis; is de paragraaf een voorbeeld/uitbreiding/tegenstelling etc.

Hoofdgedachtevraag (What point does the author make in paragraphs 5 and 6?) -> lees de eerste en laatste zin van de paragraaf/paragrafen; omcirkel signaalwoorden; omcirkel positieve of negatieve woorden (mening!); kijk naar titel/plaatjes/auteur/bron

Fill-in-the-gap (Which of the following fits the gap in the text?) -> kijk naar voorgaande/volgende zin; is de zin logisch?/

Fill-in-the-gap (Which of the following fits the gap in the text?) -> kijk naar voorgaande/volgende zin; is de zin logisch?/

Literary devices (ironie, beeldspraak ) -> 

ironie = men bedoelt het tegenovergestelde van wat gezegd wordt (Brits!)

beeldspraak/figuurlijk taalgebruik = wordt niet letterlijk bedoeld, levendig maken van taal - "opeengepakt als haringen in een ton")

Globaal lezen = skimming a text to get an overall idea of the text/meaning

Zoekend lezen = scanning a text for a specific answer

Read title, subtitle(s)

Read first and last sentences

Look a pictures/author/source

Look at linking words

Look at synonyms/positive + negative words

Try to work out the meaning of a word by looking a the context/synonyms

Zoekend lezen = scanning

Carefully read in the indicated paragraph(s) if the answer is mentioned. 

Sometimes it is literally in there, more often a synonym is used or it is "inferred"

Linking words/phrases

Contrast: however, but, nevertheless, though, even though, unless, even if, on the contrary, despite

Cause/result: so, therefore, hence, consequently

Comparison: similarly, by contrast, compared to, equally

Summing up: firstly, secondly, moreover, as well, lastly, additionally, it isn't the only

Conclusion/summary: all in all, in conclusion, as a result, in brief

Downplaying/putting into perspective:  to be honest, by the way, rather than, as a matter of fact, still

Confirming/extra information/emphasis: indeed, as a matter of fact, what's more, in other words, in fact
