1. When you quote, use quotation marks and reference the author + page number

Paraphrasing is using your own words to say what happens in the book
The party that the Lisbon sisters have signifies/illustrates the tension between freedom and restriction, as they are allowed to have a party even though their parents need to supervise every aspect of it. For example the moment when Mr. Lisbon opens the door to the guests (Eugenides, 64).
