A/AN

We use 'A' for the words that begin with consonants (medeklinkers). Example: a car, a book, a towel.

We use 'An' for the words that begin with with vowels (klinkers). Example: an egg, an apple.

SOME 

We use some in positive (+) sentences and in questions when we ask for things and offer things. 

Example: There is some bread on the table. 

Can I have some oranges/ bread, please?

ANY

We use any in questions and in negative (-) sentences.

Example: Is there any water?

She doesn't have any children.

We don't have any rice left.
