The scorpion and the frog

One day, a scorpion and a frog meet by the side of a fast-running river.

"Hello frog," says the scorpion. 

The frog backs away a little. 

"What's up, scorpion?" says the frog.

"Not much," says the scorpion, "but I do have a question for you."

Then the scorpion asks the frog to carry him across the river on its back.

The frog says, "Are you out of your mind? How do I know you

won't sting me?"

The scorpion says, "Because when I sting you, I will die too."

The frog takes some time to think. But he is happy with the scorpion's answer.

He puts the scorpion on his back and goes into the cold water

He starts swimming at a slow and steady pace.

But halfway across the river, the scorpion suddenly stings the frog.

The frog can't move its legs and begins to sink slowly.

 "Why did you do that?" he asks the scorpion.

"Now we will both die."

"I am sorry, frog, I just can't help myself. It's who I am. It's my nature."
