Stories, rituals and community
The next lessons we'll be focusing on three major religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam.
As we've learned earlier, every religion consists of seven characteristics: stories, beliefs, right and wrong, community, buildings, rituals and feelings.
We'll focus on three aspects: the stories, rituals and the community of these religions.

Torah, Genesis and Exodus
The Torah consists of the first five books of the (Hebrew) Bible: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy.
Genesis contains the famous stories of the creation of the universe, Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Noah's arc, and so on.
Exodus starts right after Genesis and focuses on the time when Hebrews became slaves in Egypt.

The book of Exodus
The Book of Exodus is the second book of the Bible.
It narrates how the Hebrews leave slavery in Biblical Egypt through the strength of Yahweh, the god who has chosen them as his people.
The Hebrews then journey with the prophet Moses to Mount Sinai, where Yahweh promises them the land of Canaan (the "Promised Land") in return for their faithfulness.
There, they enter into a covenant with Yahweh, who gives them their laws and instructions to build the Tabernacle, the means by which he will come from heaven and dwell with them.

Judaism, Christianity and Islam will be the main focus of the next lessons.
More specifically, we'll zoom in on three key aspects of these major religions: stories, rituals and the community.
We've seen that the book of Exodus, the second book of the (Hebrew) Bible and Torah, contains the story of Moses, freeing the Hebrews out of slavery.
