Je maakt het zo: 

had + past participle (voltooid deelwoord)

I had worked all day.

They had spoken about this before.

Past Perfect

Vaak gebruik je de PP wanneer je meerdere momenten in het verleden bespreekt.

De Past Perfect gebruik je voor wat het langst geleden is gebeurt. De Past Simple voor wat daarna is gebeurt.

Past Perfect

- De Past Perfect gebruik je voor wat het langst geleden is gebeurt. (A)

- De Past Simple gebruik je voor wat er daarna is gebeurt. (B)

I had been stuck in the lift for hours when a fireman finally came and rescued me.

I had always walked home until I bought my first car.

Past Perfect

They had walked (A) for an hour when they arrived (B) at their cabin. 

When they arrived (B) at their cabin, they had walked (A) for an hour
