Why are you listening?
  • Iets te weten willen komen, iets leren 
  • Een bepaald gevoel willen ondergaan
  • Een mening willen vormen
  • Een mening, waarde of oordeel willen ontvangen
  • Een handeling willen uitvoeren
  • Aangezet worden tot actie, etc.

Listening strategies:
  1. Globaal luisteren --> volg de grote lijnen/geen details
  2. Intensief luisteren --> grote lijnen + alle details
  3. Kritisch luisteren --> vorm een mening tijdens luisteren
  4. Gericht/zoekend luisteren --> geïnteresseerd in een bepaald onderdeel of op zoek naar een antwoord

Tips and tricks:
  • In the case of multiple-choice questions, there is always one ridiculous answer.
  • Read all answers before answering; when in doubt listen again.
  • Practice listening by watching BBC, CNN or any other English speaking newssource, Netflix, music, etc..
  • The more you listen to the English language the easier a listening excercice will get ("kilometers maken").
