3. We should have freedom of press and freedom of opinion. But not everyone should vote.

Confessionism.
Besides the two political views of liberalism and socialism, there was a third.
  • The government should take the bible into account.
  • The government should fund special schools. (Catholic and protestant).
  • They made a deal with the socialists. They got voting rights, and the confessionalist got funding for the special schools.

Something began to change:
  • In 1917 all the men could vote.
  • In 1917 women could be ellected.
  • In 1919 all women could vote.

Aletta Jacobs.
Born in 1854 in Groningen.
  •  1871-1879 She was the first woman to finish University.
  • She became a doctor in Amsterdam.
  • She gave free counsil to poor people.
  • She fought for the right to vote for women.
  • She died in 1929.
  • To fight for womens right is called feminism.
