2 individual organisms are part of the same species when they can have fertile offspring (vruchtbare nakomelingen). Some different species can have offspring, while that offspring isn't fertile (donkey and horse). 
All species have a scientific name, which consists of two words, the name of the genus, and the name of species (ex. Homo sapiens  or Canis Lupis.)
