Past continuous
Als je wilt vertellen dat iets in het verleden voor een langere tijd aan de gang was, gebruik je de past continuous.

Om de past continuous te maken, gebruik je:
Was/were + werkwoord + ing
Was / were
Je gebruikt was bij I, he, she & it.
Je gebruikt were bij you, we & they.

De past simple en de past continuous kun je in één zin gebruiken. 
De activiteit die dan het langst duurt en het eerste begon, is de past continuous.
De activiteit die het kortst duurt en tussen door gebeurde, is de past simple.
