Advantages and disadvantages 

Easiest for teacher to use	Does not allow students to create meaning in the target language
No need for interaction with Native speaks	very little teacher/student interaction
Active correction of mistakes	students do not learn to speak in the target language
Helps you understand the grammar of your native language better	Not motivating/ challenging enough for some pupils

Debate

Grammar Translation Method is better than the Audio Lingual method.

GTM should be used as the 

main form of teaching.

Immediate correction of pupils is a good thing. 

An authoritative teacher its the best kind of teacher.

If pupils are able to translate from 1 language into another, they are considered successful language learners.
