Today's goal: You know the pitfalls of writing an essay for the SE next week

Which thesis statement is better and why:
A: Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are the best sandwiches.
B: Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are the best sandwiches because they are easy to make and versatile.

Go to p. 96 of your green reader. We will make exercise 3 with the class. 

Practice essay

You are going to get your 2nd practice essay back. 

- Write an analysis of the mistakes on the back of the page. Use p.12 - 13 of your reader.

Essay grading explained

Orange = vocabulary (very, repetition, etc) 10p

Purple = interpunction 2,5p

Red = spelling  2,5p

Pink = grammar  10p

Conventions = yellow (title in the middle, linking words, etc) 10p

Content/comm. failure = green. (Vague, didn't follow the assignment, nonsense arguments) 10p
