A: The beginning: Set the stage

• write the first  4 to  5 sentences: Start with: "It was..."

B: The middle: What happened

• write the middle of the story in 5 to 6 sentences: Start with: "Suddenly...."

C: The end: Conclusion

• write the end of the story; 3 to 4 sentences: Start with "It was then that...."

Example

• It was a cold and dark night. I was walking down the street on my own. There was no one else on the streets to be found, it was eerily quiet.
• Suddenly I heard footsteps behind me, even though I knew no one could be there. I started walking faster. The footsteps behind me also quickened their pace.
• It was then that I turned around to see who, or what, was following me. To my surprise I saw no one behind me. I was still alone. I decided it was just my imagination and kept walking. But the footsteps behind me were still there...
