Present Simple vs Past Simple

When talking about habits: 

I sleep well every night. 

I slept well every night.

Or single actions in the past: I slept well last night.

Used to vs Would

Both are used for past habits: 

I used to eat apples every day. 

I would eat apples every day. 

However...

I used to know her, she was in my class.

I would know her, she was in my class. 

'Would' is not used with stative/state verbs
