comparative (2 things) =  She is smarter than me.
                                           She is more intelligent than me.

superlative (3 or more) = She is the smartest student of this class.   
                                           She is the most intelligent student of this class.

equal (the same)           =  She is as smart as me.
                                           She is as intelligent as me.
