A: For the football match, I am cheering on my favorite team.

B: When is it? and who is playing?

A: It's now! It's Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Wh-questions (1)

• We use the wh-question words to ask questions.
• They appear at the start of sentences.
• They are often followed by either is or are, based on the person or object in the sentence.

• Look at the sentences on the next slide for examples.

Why are we famous? - Why is Guy Fawkes famous?

Where are you? - Where is the beach?

When are the shops open? - When is it  open?
