What are verb tenses?

Verb tenses zijn werkwoord tijden zoals:

• Verleden tijd
• Tegenwoordige tijd 

Vandaag kijken we naar de present simple, past simple, present continuous en present perfect.

Present simple = Zo kort mogelijk

We use the present simple when we talk about:

• Facts/feiten: Things that are always true. Dingen die altijd waar zijn
   Snow is cold. You have two hands.
• Habits/gewoontes: 
   Signal words: always, never, sometimes, every week etc. 

      I always walk to school. I never drink coffee.

• Regularity/regelmaat
  I hang out with my friends often.

When something happened in the past and is now finished.

Always a time indication!

When do we use the -ING form?

The -ING form

We use the -ING form when we want to say what is happening right now. 

We gebruiken de -ING vorm als we zeggen wat nu aan de gang is.
Signaalwoorden: currently, right now, at the moment, etc.

I am teaching right now

You are learning at the moment

How do you think the present perfect is made?

Present Perfect

We use the present perfect when someone started something  in the past and it's still relevant now. 

We gebruiken de present perfect als iemand in het verleden met iets is begonnen en het nu nog steeds relevant is.

I have lived in Amersfoort for 3 years.

He has know him since his birth.
