The paper menagerie 
1. What can you say about the setting of the story? (time; for example: century-year-season-time span etc. and place; country-house- etc.)
2. Who is the main character?
3. What is the main character’s goal, problem or conflict?
4. Does the main character have to deal with an opponent? Describe who,what,why.
5. When a character makes a choice, what might be his/her motivation?
6. How and why is the main character changed or unchanged by the end of the story?

Character
the vehicle (person, animal, creation) that moves the story forward. A character may be main or minor, depending on his or her role in the work of literature. While some characters are two-dimensional, with one or two dominant traits, a fully developed character has a unique complex of traits.

A) dynamic characters often change as the plot unfolds. We call this change 'character development'. Usually the main characters are dynamic characters.

B) static characters remain the same. Usually, background characters are static characters
