Queen Elizabeth II, the UK's longest-serving monarch, has died at Balmoral aged 96, after reigning for 70 years.

Elizabeth Windsor was born on 21 April 1926 but was not yet directly in line for the throne.

The king fell in love with a divorced American woman named Wallace Simpson, this was a huge scandal.
