Y9: Calculating Means
Slide 1 - Slide
During experiements we often do repeat tests to ensure that our results are precise. This means we will have more than one result each time we change something.
We will need to calculate an average. In science, unless it says otherwise in the question, we always calculate the mean to use as our average.
Slide 2 - Slide
To calculate the average we add all of the values (numbers) together and then divide the answer by the number of values we have.
Slide 3 - Slide
Check: If your answer is higher than the highest number or lower than the lowest number, you have made a mistake!
