Lijdende vorm: De focus ligt niet op wie wat doet, maar op wat er gedaan wordt

De film werd bekeken. 
De krant wordt gelezen.
Een cadeau is gegeven. 

Grammaticale tijden worden hetzelfde gebruikt, alleen is de vorm iets anders. Overal wordt een vorm van 'to be' aan toegevoegd + voltooid deelwoord. 
De vorm van 'to be' wordt vervoegd zoals de 'normale' grammaticale tijd wordt vervoegd.

Tag questions
Korte vragen aan het einde van een zin, gebruikt om om bevestiging te vragen. In het Nederlands: toch? hè? 

John reageert altijd snel boos, toch? 
John always reacts angrily fast, doesn't he? 

In de tag question gebruik je altijd een persoonlijk voornaamwoord dat past bij het onderwerp van de zin. Is de zin bevestigend, dan is de tag ontkennend en andersom.

Tag questions
Kijk altijd naar het werkwoord om te weten welke vorm je moet gebruiken in de tag question. Vier mogelijkheden:
1. De zin staat in de simple present
2. De zin staat in de simple past
3. De zin bevat een vorm van het werkwoord 'to be'
4. In de zin staan meerdere werkwoorden

Je gebruikt in de tag question 'do' of 'does' (bij S.H.It-regel)
